She was born November 9, 1944 in Vancouver, WA to Charles and Gladys Steele. Lola’s parents moved to Coon Rapids, Minnesota when Lola was 10. Lola met Wayne in High School and went on to marry at the age of 19. They eventually settled in Blaine, where they raised their two daughters, Tracy and Connie. She was a devoted mom and spent lots of time watching her girls play softball, volleyball and soccer, she was their biggest fan and loved every minute of it. Lola worked at Honeywell in Minneapolis for 35 years where she developed lifelong friends and enjoyed vacations, crafting, and playing cards with her friends. After retirement Lola and Wayne made many great memories traveling to many places in the United States with her mom, sister, brother-in-law, brother, sister-in-law and her friend Elaine. Some of her favorite places were Hawaii, Alaska, visiting family in Florida and being on The Price is Right in California. Another important part of Lola’s life was bragging and cheering on her 7 grandchildren, she spent many years watching hockey, soccer, football and other activities they were involved in. She loved cheering them on win or lose, she always brought treats and snacks, this was her life and passion. Lola was very fortunate to have 8 great-grandchildren who she loved very much.
Throughout Lola’s life she had many hobbies and passions. She enjoyed making homemade ice cream, water skiing, time on the boat, fishing, driving her black 66’ ford, golfing with family and friends, snowmobiling, travel with daughters and sons-in-law, and going to the casino. Most of all, Lola lived for her faith, family and friends. Lola had a very infectious smile and made everyone feel like family and will be missed dearly.
She is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Wayne Hansen; children, Tracy (Keith) Gerads; Connie (Pat) Gilson; Seven grandchildren; Eight great-grandchildren; Sister Fern Nelson; Brothers Quentin Steele (Brenda), and Denny Steele (Cheryl). She is also survived by many loving and very special nieces and nephews.
Lola was preceded in death by parents Charles and Gladys Steele.
Services will be held on Tuesday, September 17, 2024 at 10:00 AM at Word of Life Church in Coon Rapids, with burial at Hillside Cemetery to follow. Visitation is from 9:00 – 10:00 AM. Luncheon to follow the service.
