Survived by his Wife of 27 years, Barbara Allen Samuelson; three Daughters, Susan Allen, Shelley (Guy) Paquette, &
Shirley (Tom) Albrecht; 10 Grandchildren: Thomas (Arati) Albrecht, David Albrecht, Lee (Lauren) Paquette, Aceil Rashid, Matthew Albrecht, Sarah Paquette, Kahlil (Zara) Rashid, Danny Albrecht, Michael Albrecht,& Benjamin Paquette; three Great-Grandchildren, Riley Jo & David Jr. Albrecht, & Laila Rashid. Also survived by Brothers, Samuel and Daniel Samuelson and Sister, Pearl Cowie; many Nieces, Nephews, extended Family and dear Friends. Martin was raised in Hamar, North Dakota. He enlisted in the US Army and served as a medic and first aid attendant from 1950 to 1952 during the Korean War, earning the United Nations service medal. He became involved with the Salvation Army and developed skills in television repair and opened his own shop in Minneapolis. Additional businesses included handmade wooden furniture and other items, lawn care ,and employment with the Star Tribune. Martin met and married Barbara in 1984. His greatest passion was his grandchildren; he created additional time to be with them by hiring them as part of his lawn crew and having them assist with his early morning paper route. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing, traveling, wood working and general tinkering, as well as gardening, and he always had time for family and friends. Martin’s life will be celebrated at a memorial service on Thursday, February 23 at 1:00 PM at the Gearhart Funeral Home, 11275 Foley Blvd NW, Coon Rapids, MN 763-755-6300.
