Minnesota Bob, 90, rode his last trail ride to heaven’s gate on a cold night, October 30, 2020.
Born 6/23/1930 to Ronald Ellsworth Gerritsen and Alice Bernice Lasker who preceded him in death along with his wife Marilyn Idun (Olson), daughter, Laura Hinz, and son, Tim Gerritsen.
Survived by Sister, Sue Howell (Rick), daughters Linda Bayliss (Jim) and Kathy Didling (Duayne), Son-in-law, Al Hinz; Grandchildren: Julie Davis (Tom), Chris Bayliss (Katie), Jenny Berry (Mark), Ashley Sargent (Trace), Jeremy Ammerman (Cindy), Luke Hinz (Mandy), and Cassie Johnson (Kerry); 14 great-grandchildren and 1 great, great grandson.
As a master electrician, Bob praised the guidance, education, and experience that he gained though the Electrical Workers brotherhood that gave him a long successful career, with many shops including Parks and Gunnar Electric.
Bob grew up with a love for horses and the cowboy image. He cast himself in that likeness again in his later life where everyone knew him as Cowboy Bob.
A funeral service will be held 12:30 PM Friday, November 6, 2020 at Gearhart Funeral Home 11275 Foley Blvd NW, Coon Rapids with visitation beginning at 11 AM. Following his service burial will take place at Morningside Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Coon Rapids. In adherence to the gathering restrictions set forth by the CDC during the Covid Pandemic all guests are require to wear masks and practice social distancing.
