Richard "Dick" Mortenson

Age 94, of Coon Rapids

Born Jan. 5. 1932 in Iron River, WI. Died April 7, 2026.

Preceded in death by his wife, Jacqueline “Jackie” Mortenson.

Survived by his; children, Linda Mortenson, Rick (Karen) Mortenson, Julie (Roy Volk), Alan (Kristen) Mortenson; grandchildren, David (Christie), Jennifer (Eli), Daniel (Pam), Curtis (Courtney), Eric (Megan Hasser), Maya, Nathan; 11 great-grandchildren.

Dick, known as Mort to many in the National Guard, was a veteran of both Korean War and the Persian Gulf War. He was a member of both the Wisconsin and Minnesota Army Reserve National Guards for over 40 years. While in the MN Army Reserve National Guard, he was selected as Command Sargent Major, E9 serving with the 47th Div Arty and ended his service with HQ 47th Infantry Division in the commission grade of Chief Warrant Officer W4.

Mass of Christian Burial 11am Tue. 4/14 at Church of Saint Paul (1740 Bunker Lake Rd. NE., Ham Lake) Visitation 5-7 pm Mon. 4/13 at Gearhart Funeral Home (11275 Foley Blvd. NW., Coon Rapids) second visitation on Tue. 10am until time of Mass at church.

Interment with military honors Morningside Memorial Gardens in Coon Rapids.
