Richard "Dick" Vigstol

Dick was born in Grand Forks, ND to Nels and Effie Vigstol January 10, 1944. They eventually moved to Plummer, MN where he attended school. He met the love of his life Valerie at a wedding dance and as they would say, “they have been dancing ever since”. He was a devoted husband and father and loved the Lord. He was a carpenter by trade and a very hard-working man building all four of his homes, along with helping many, many others. He retired in 2003 building his retirement home on Big Sandy. He loved fishing and hunting but most of all spending time with his family.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, March 14, 2026 at Trinity Lutheran Church, St. Francis, MN. Visitation will also take place one hour prior to funeral services at the church.

He was preceded in death by his son, Robbie Vigstol; parents, Nels and Effie (Brower) Vigstol; step father-in-law, Burnel Byer; Father-in-law and Mother-in-law, Harold and Florence (Nelson) Pierce; brothers, Neil and Lee Vigstol; brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws, Ronalie Vigstol, Ronald and Celeste (Pierce) Gerardy, Shirley Vigstol and O.J. Anderson.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Valerie; children, Jovanae (Kevin) Hauschild, Michael (Kathy) Vigstol, Patrice (Tim) O’Brien, and Tom Doane; Grandchildren, Justin (Heather) Hauschild, Kenneth (Rachel) Hauschild, Richard Hauschild, Corrisa Vigstol, Cordel Vigstol, Corman Vigstol, Corrin Vigstol, Jacob Vigstol, Ashley Anthony, Katie Anthony, Devrin O’Brien, Dillon O’Brien, Dawson O’Brien and Daelyn O’Brien; great-grandchildren, Hailee, Austin, Lydia, Liam, Simon, Leah, Ashton, Grayson, Robin, Zuri, Athena, and Adelyne; Sisters and brothers, Anne Anderson, Eldon (Karen) Vigstol, Ray Vigstol, Russ (Ruth) Vigstol, Dave (Sue) Vigstol, Dan (Janet) Vigstol, Steve (Denise) Vigstol, Maribeth (Scott) Miller, Jeanie Vigstol (sister-in-law); step sisters-in-law, Elaine (Arnold) Palmer and Beverly (Ben) Titleman; brother and sister-in-laws, Dennis and Arlys (Pierce) Morrison, Jim and Romona Pierce; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
