

Sanford was born to Rangvald and Cora Eidal on February 15, 1937 in Fergus Falls, MN. He was raised on a farm near Wendall. As a teenager, he helped on the farm and worked for local farmers. After finishing high school, Sanford joined the Army. Following his service to our country, he worked at a gas station. He met his wife, Janice on a blind date at a roller rink. He worked for the Strom family; road construction for Cliff Strom, mechanic for Ray Strom and truck driver for Roy Strom. He even drove school bus for a while. Sanford moved his family to Roseville and got a job at Cummins Diesel. He retired from there after 37 years. They raised 3 children in Roseville and then in Coon Rapids.
Sanford loved his family and the outdoors. Much time was spent fishing, snowmobiling, camping, traveling, woodworking and just spending time together as a family. His patriotism has been passed down through the generations, he believed that every U.S. citizen should fly an American flag. Sanford passed away peacefully on October 14th, 2024.
Sanford is survived by his wife Janice, daughters Sandra (Scott) and Jane; grandchildren Christopher (Amber), Stephanie (Shaun), Jennifer (Don) and Andrew (Jess); great-grandchildren Jordan, Klara, Chloe, Madison, Gavin, Caden, Audrey, Ava, Eli, Savanah, and Leo; siblings Catherine, Everett (Terri), Russell (Pat), and Harold (Earlene).
He was preceded in death by his son Mark, parents R.C. and Cora, siblings Melvin, Mildred, Viola, and Frances.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held Friday, October 25, 2024 at 2:00 PM at Gearhart Funeral Home, 11275 Foley Blvd NW, Coon Rapids, MN with visitation one hour prior to service. Private interment at Chippewa Cemetery, Brandon, MN.
