Mr. Edward R. Burkhardt, a long-time resident of Copiague, died Sunday, December 11, 2011. A U.S. Army veteran, he was retired from his career in Electrical Manufacturing with the Dumont Corporation in Amityville. Surviving is his daughter, Suzanne Curto and her husband, Frank; and his son, Todd Burkhardt and his companion, Cassandra. He was cherished by his grandchildren, Jennifer Valle and her husband, Ralph, Melissa Williams, Michelle Williams and Caitlin Curto; and his great-granddaughter, Nicole. Mr. Burkhardt is predeceased by his parents, Frank and Minnie (nee Kunsch) Burkhardt, and twelve brothers and sisters. The family will gather at the D'Andrea Bros.Funeral Home in Copiague on Wednesday morning, at 10:00 a.m. A short prayer will be offered, and then we will process to Calverton National Cemetery.
