Eleanor Christ, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on February 16, 2025, at the age of 84. Born on June 12, 1940, Eleanor was the cherished wife of Karl Christ for 63 and a half years, with whom she shared a deep and loving bond since their marriage on June 24, 1961.
Eleanor's journey in love began at Grover Cleveland Park in Ridgewood, Queens, where she met Karl on a handball court—a meeting that would shape the rest of their lives together. A devoted mother to Irene Mueller (George) and Karen Christ, she was a constant source of strength and love for her family. Eleanor’s legacy lives on through her cherished grandchildren, Kirsten Mueller and Brittany Kontos (Nick), and her great-grandson, Tyler Kontos, who brought immense joy to her heart, especially in the last year of her life.
Eleanor had a special place in her heart for her grandcats, who were welcomed with open arms to what became affectionately known as "Camp Omi & Opa." She adored her family, always showering them with thoughtful gifts and never failing to bring warmth and love to every occasion.
A lover of the color purple, Eleanor found joy in reading, solving crossword puzzles, and nurturing plants in her garden. Her green thumb and passion for cultivating life reflected her nurturing spirit. She leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and devotion to those who were lucky enough to know her.
A visitation will be held at the D’Andrea Bros. Funeral Home on Saturday, February 22, 2025, from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm. A private cremation will follow.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Eleanor’s memory to the Livestrong at the YMCA for Cancer Survivors at the Patchogue Family YMCA (https://ymcali.networkforgood.com).
Eleanor will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but her love and warmth will continue to live on in the hearts of her family.
