Maria Aurora Taveras

Maria Aurora Nuñez (Dora) nació el 13 de agosto de 1933 en Las Placetas, República Dominicana. Se casó con Arturo Taveras en 1953. Emigraron a Estados Unidos en 1963 y llegaron a Long Island. Ella era costurera en varias de las fábricas de ropa que había en los años 70 en Copiague. En los años 90 se fue a trabajar en limpieza en el hospital Southside.Se retiró de ahí y ella y Arturo se fueron a vivir a su natal RD por varios años. Luego regresaron a vivir en Farmingville con su familia. Siempre será recordada con amor por sus hijos Miledy y John, sus nietos Jonathan, Diego, Kelly y Justin y sus biznietos Rafael, Maya y Finley.

Familiares y amigos se reunirán para visitas el viernes 28 de abril de 2:00 a 4:30 p.m. y de 7:00 a 9:00p.m. La misa funeral se celebrará el sábado 29 de abril a las 9:00 a. m. en la iglesia de Nuestra Señora de la Asunción en Copiague. El entierro seguirá en Pinelawn Memorial Park.

Maria Aurora Taveras, of Farmingville, L.I., died on Sunday, April 23, 2023 at the age of 89 years.

Maria Aurora Nunez (Dora) was born in Las Placetas, Dominican Republic on August 13, 1933. She married Arturo Taveras in 1953. They emigrated to the US in 1963 and settled on Long Island. She was a seamstress in the 1970’s working in a few of the many clothing factories in Copiague at the time. In the 90’s she took a job in housekeeping at Southside Hospital. She retired, and she and Arturo moved back to their native DR for a few years. They returned to live in Farmingville with their family. She will forever be remembered by her children Miledy and John, grandchildren Jonathan, Diego, Kelly and Justin, and great-grandchildren Rafael, Maya and Finley.

Family and friends will gather for visitation on Friday, April 28th from 2:00 - 4:30 pm and 7:00 - 9:00 pm.

The funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, April 29th at 9:00 AM at Our Lady of the Assumption Church in Copiague. Burial will follow at Pinelawn Memorial Park.
