Alfonso Lugo Moncibaiz Jr. also known as “Al” “Fonso” “Papa” “Twinkle” passed away on August 8, 2021 at the age of 65, in Dallas, TX. His battle with an illness in recent days showed us his courage in facing this challenge with a great attitude. Despite the pain, Papa came out a hero and stayed strong until the end.
Papa was born in Abilene, TX, on December 26, 1955 to Alfonso Lugo Moncibaiz Senior and Juanita Marie Burch. As a child, Papa was always experimenting on his younger siblings showing that he had a mind for engineering and science. I’m sure every one of them has a story and a scar to prove it.
Papa met the love of his life, Anna Maria Calderon, in high school. He actually stole her away from his then best friend. They were married on February 18, 1977 in Las Cruces, NM and she supported almost every crazy business idea he had from dog breeding, raising alpacas, a photo booth, video yearbooks, and many others. Papa had five children: Gabriel John Moncibaiz, Alfonso Lugo Moncibaiz III, Lisa Anne Buster, Noelle Amadea Moncibaiz, Liam Micah Moncibaiz.
Papa earned a Bachelors of Science, in Electrical Engineering from the University of Texas at El Paso. He worked for the United States Department of Defense as an electrical engineer for 34 years. Papa also served for 3 years in the United States Army from 1977 -1980.
Papa loved being outside working on his tractor or lawn mower. He also had a big heart and loved helping others the best he could. He seemed to have knowledge about almost everything. He enjoyed watching his grandchildren play sports. He volunteered at Remnant church where he was a member. He loved picking on his family members just to get a laugh.
Papa is survived by his spouse, Anna Moncibaiz, his children: Gabriel John Moncibaiz, Alfonso Lugo Moncibaiz III & Norma Moncibaiz, Lisa Anne Buster & James Buster, Noelle Amadea Moncibaiz, Liam Micah Moncibaiz, and his grandchildren: Michael Moncibaiz, Oscar Moncibaiz, Mia Moncibaiz, Diego Moncibaiz, Isaac Moncibaiz, Juliet Moncibaiz, Jeslyn Buster, Laya “LJ” Buster, and Jace Buster. He is also survived by his siblings: Billy Kenneth Davis, Cynthia Marie Hunt, Michael John Moncibaiz, Ricky Dale Moncibaiz, Tony Wayne Moncibaiz, Christopher Owen Moncibaiz, Debra Ann Duran, and Patricia Carol Venegas.
Papa will be honored in a celebration of life on August 22, 2021 with visitation hours from 4 – 5 pm. A service at 5pm at Rolling Oaks Funeral Home with a reception afterwards. He will be buried at DFW National cemetery on August 23, 2021 at 9:30 am. Ricky Moncibaiz will officiant the service, and Papa’s pallbearers are: Gabriel Moncibaiz, Alfonso Moncibaiz III, James Buster, Liam Moncibaiz, Michael Moncibaiz, and Chris Wolfe.
Special thank you to Resonate Life Church and Remnant Church for all the love you have given to all the family in this difficult time. We would also like to personally thank Dr. Ivette Lozano for the excellent care she provided Papa. She was relentless in her goal to help him, and even though she only knew him for a few days, she treated him like he was her own father. She went above and beyond in her love and care for Papa. We appreciate all you did, Dr. Lozano.
The funeral Service will be livestreamed via James Buster's Facebook page.
