Bruce Howard Krause, age 77, residing in Denton, Texas passed away on August 22, 2022 from natural causes. Born on November 12, 1944, he grew up on a farm near Radcliffe, Iowa. Bruce paid his way through Ellsworth College for his associate’s degree and then graduated from the University of Iowa in 1968 with his Bachelors of Arts in Economics.
After college, Bruce married Lyn and entered the United States Air Force where he served as a pilot during the Vietnam War. Bruce was decorated with many service awards. After an honorable discharge, he trained as a stockbroker and spent nearly 40 years as a successful leader in the financial services industry working for companies such as Merrill Lynch, EF Hutton, and RBC Dain Rauscher. He raised his family in Colorado Springs and thoroughly enjoyed time in the mountains. Bruce moved to Denver and then went on to manage branch turnarounds in Kansas City, Raleigh-Durham, and St. Petersburg Florida. He retired by the water in St. Pete for years before moving to Flower Mound, Texas in 2018.
Bruce loved music and was a loyal Iowa Hawkeyes fan - whether it was leading a round at the Golden Bee pub, attending a Hawkeye football game, or loudly listening to his overly extensive library of Time Life CD collection - he loved to work hard and play hard. A day did not pass that he watched the opening and closing of the market. Known for his sense of humor, he enjoyed playful teasing with others and always had a joke ready for every occasion. Generous in spirit, he gave to church and multiple charities and served in leadership at the St. Pete Beach American Legion Post 305. His family and friends will dearly miss him.
Bruce is survived by two children Trent and spouse Christy Krause, and Robyn and spouse Bruce Pratt; five grandchildren Zach Pratt, Tristan Krause, Clara Krause, Noelle Pratt and Courtenay Krause; two brothers Merritt and spouse Jo Krause, and Craig Krause. His parents Russell and Elvera Krause, Sister Janice Tjelmeland and Brother Dennis Krause precede him in death.
Bruce’s Celebration of Life service will be held at 4pm, Saturday September 3rd at Flower Mound Community Church, 3415 Cross Timbers Rd, Flower Mound, TX 75028. Reception to follow at nearby restaurant.
