Dear Dor, we .et at the Corwall College 100 year reunion. Your quiet demeanor stood out through the years. Each time we met your sense of humour was always in the forefront. We spoke about not having grandchildren when everyone was having. You ended up with seven i am still lagging behind with one. We celebrated many special  occasions together, been on cruises together, but most of all I LLPwas always tickled when we met and we wanted to play "kalooki" you reminded us that you do not remember how to play. "Right " you  would beat us up. Dor, we will miss you. Say hi to Bev and start playing the game again. RIP my friend till we meet again. Condolences to Camille, Christopher and the grandchildren.

Dor,  53yrs ago we met when we started our nursing careers at The University Hospital of The West
Indies in Kingston Ja. along with Beverly,Janice and Carmen and have been friends ever since. Just before we graduated you Janice and I were engaged and planning weddings as we studied for our finals.  We loved,laughed, and cried thru good and bad times.          Although we were not able to see each other as often as we liked we have always kept in touch,so whenever we did it was as if we had never been apart.There are so many memories and the fun we had. I will miss you my friend and treasure them all  but most of all the love remains.                                           Take  your rest my friend and say hello to the others for me.  Till we meet again.

I met Dor 53 years ago at the start of our nursing career in Kingston, JA, along Beverley, Diane and Carmen. We have remained very close, like a family, all these years. 
Dor had such a beautiful soul, always calm, collected and level headed. In our later years, we made it a point to get together annually as a group to share our love for each other and to reminisce about past years. Even when we didn't see each other for years, it was as if we had seen each other just yesterday.

IN LOVING MEMORY

I met the Smiths 35-years ago. My husband Lennox and Winston were teenage friends back in Jamaica. The family was four including Christopher and Camille and I met all four at the same time. 

From the first time we met we became a family. At the time we lived in Queens, New York and they were living in Howell, New Jersey. Many happy weekends were subsequently spent together either in New York or in Jersey. Winston was a romantic. The license plate for the large Wagon was WINDOR and it comfortably met all our requirements.

Both families relocated but we managed somehow to meet at various times throughout the years. Dorothy and I exchanged text while she was in rehabilitation. Camille mentioned that her Mom would be discharged on March 9th.  I sent a text to Dor with the query, where are you? She text her reply, “Yes they sent me home today. I will give you a call tomorrow.” Camille called the next day with the unexpected news, Mom was readmitted to the Hospital.

My deepest sympathy goes to Christopher, Camille and the 7-grandchildren. I have lost a sister and my namesake but I have gained a Guardian Angel. Rest in peace.

I met Dorothy many years ago when our children were young and we both worked at then Kimball Medical Center in New Jersey.  I think I was drawn to Dorothy  because if her humble and kind spirit. 
She and her family moved to Dallas and we spoke infrequently but when we spoke it was a though we didn't lose a beat. I will miss her smile and her loving nature. She will always be in my heart. She will live through her children and grandchildren  and I will miss her. Rest in peace my friend. 🙏🏽❤


Mamma Dor, 
I will never forget the feeling when you opened the door to your home for the first time & immediately took me into your heart. 

You literally had a gentle glow around your person that made people feel safe, loved, special, and never judged. 

Just before our wedding you said 
‘I prayed all of Christopher’s life for his spouse ....but I never thought to put a geographical proximity on it!’ 
We laughed ....but it hurt us all that Australia was so very far away! 

You bore that as you bore everything. Without a complaint, graciously, lovingly & somehow always at peace with God’s big picture. 

Grandma we have always felt your beautiful presence, your personal love, your prayers, and the support of our many dreams, despite the miles between us. 

We cannot thank you enough for making the massive trip over again, just this last Christmas ... your Aussie Grandbabies will never forget it. 

‘Be the parts you miss, of someone you lost’ is now our little family’s treasure to hold onto. 

Already your light shines brightly on Ma - in Em’s ‘laugh out loud’ at life, Win’s light up the room smile, Annie’s quiet joy in simple pleasures, Dotti’s clever take on life & Declan’s gentle (but giant) spirit. 

Suffice to say I know I ‘hit the jackpot’ finding my best friend & husband in your beautiful son. He has your Spirit through & through. Calm, loyal, funny, clever ...and that same special glow I found at your door. 

For me, I will only hope to imitate your elegance, your kind kind heart, and your steadfast Faith in He who has Loved you Home. 

Keep looking out for us all from heaven Mamma Dor....we could never do any of this without You.

I met Dorothy in the 70s at what was formerly known as Paul Kimball Hospital. She was the first black Registered Nurse that I had ever met.
She was beautiful, compassionate, and knowledgeable. It was because of Dorothy that I went on to obtain credentials as a Registered Nurse.

Dorothy, I thank God for the privilege of sharing in your presence when decades ago you relocated to Texas.  Our Father God decided He needs you at this time, so, till we meet again, I’ll cherish your Christ-like gentle and warm demeanor that have been indelibly printed in my memory.  May your soul Rest In Peace dear Dor. 

I'm very sorry to hear about Dorothy's passing. I had the great pleasure of meeting her, Winston and Auntie Pearl a few times from my friendship with Chris. I send my condolences, thoughts and prayers to Chris and Camille. 

I am so sorry to hear of Dorothy's passing.  I was very good friends with her husband Winston who I worked with at Mobil Oil and played tennis with regularly for many years.  I met Dorothy and the rest of their wonderful family through Winston.  I remember Dorothy as being a very beautiful and sweet lady.  I was honored to be invited to their 25th wedding anniversary, to their home several times, and to serve as a pallbearer in Winston's funeral.  When I visited their home, I always looked forward to Dorothy's outstanding Rum Punch and I loved hearing her soothing Jamaican accent!   I know that Dorothy and Winston are together again now, but we will all really miss you here....  Love, David Wright

When I met Dorothy during orientation in Paul Kimball Hospital, I knew instantly that she was so special that I wanted her in my life forever.
Her lovely accent and lyrical laugh was a joy to hear. She always made me feel joyful in her presence.
When my own Mother passed away Dorothy was instantly at my home wrapping her arms around me and soothing my pain. I wish I could be there for Camille , for my dear friend Dorothy.
You will never leave my heart.

Her quiet faith was an inspiration. Now she is with our Lord and Savior the one who attended her every thought and action. Her many acts of kindnesses small and large will serve to honor her life here on earth. We miss you Ms Dorothy but you’re home now. Rest in perfect peace.

I worked with Dorothy at Aetna. I always  admired and respected her. Strong family values and work ethics. She spoke of her grandchildren with great affection.  Truly a beautiful woman.
