

George Holman Beaty, Jr, 68, pianist, arranger, composer and vocalist, transitioned to his eternal home on December 21, 2015 at the Baylor Heart Hospital. He was a North Texas resident since 1966, and lived in Hurst since 1983. George was born in Holdenville, OK, November 18, 1947, the only child of the late George and Lorene (Williamson) Beaty. George entertained audiences with his creative musical talents since his first piano recital at the age of eight. His first performance was with the St. Louis Symphony at the age of twelve, he was an accomplished pianist and trumpet player. He attended the University of North Texas in Denton majoring in piano jazz, classical, and composition. During the course of his illustrious career, George played with a variety of well-known musical talents including Blood Sweat & Tears, David Sanborn, Gladys Knights and the Pips, and the Four Freshman, among many others. He assembled several four-part harmony groups, including Magic, Vision, and Vision 2 that showcased his creative genius and entertained audiences for years. Most recently, George enjoyed playing piano regularly at Nick & Sam’s, the Steakhouse on Oak Lawn in Dallas, which in addition to fine piano playing is well known for excellent food, and unparalleled service. George Beaty, the man and his music, will be missed by many. He is survived by his life partner, Mary Elizabeth (Bambi) St. Cyr; his German Shepherd, Eva: his aunt in Lenapah, OK, Leta Williamson and six cousins, Beverly, Carmen, Eddie, Gary and their children, Jennifer and her children, Joey; two cousins in OK City, Darrel Green and his wife, Sharon, their children and Steven Green; as well as a multitude of friends. A Celebration of Life service will be held at the Christian Center in Farmers Branch, 13505 Josey Lane, Dallas 75234 on January 16 at 2pm. In lieu of flowers, charitable contributions is requested that donations be made to the Paralyzed Veterans of America, the Texas SPCA, The Joshua Experience, or a charity of personal choice.
