

Harchand Singh Dhadli passed away peacefully at his home in Lewisville, TX on September 14, 2015 at age of 92. Born in Malmajra, Punjab on May 11, 1923, Harchand Singh was the oldest of four children of Jaswant Singh and Gobind Kaur. In 1943, Harchand S. Dhadli graduated with his B.Sc. (Agriculture) from Khalsa College in Amritsar. He joined the Department of Agriculture in 1945 as an Agriculture Inspector. Harchand Singh Dhadli was known to be a progressive farmer, as he was the first to introduce mechanical farming on his land. He retired after a long distinguished career as Divisional Soil Conservation Officer (Class 1 Officer) in 1981. Harchand Singh along with his wife moved to the US in 1986. Those close to him would describe him as a man of integrity, strong work ethic and committed to family values. Harchand Singh was always jovial in nature and knew how to make one smile. He was married to Ajaib Kaur, daughter of Ajit Singh, (retired Deputy Director of Agriculture) for nearly 70 years. Harchand Singh Dhadli put strong emphasis on higher education, as each of his children attained university education. Harchand Singh’s continued commitment to education led him to establish a primary school in his village.
Harchand Singh Dhadli is survived by his wife Ajaib Kaur Dhadli, brother Jagpal Singh, son Raminder Singh and daughters Raminder Kaur and Baljinder (Piku) Kaur, five grand kids including Shamsher, Harleen, Amneet, Tejveer and Harjap, as well as 3 great grandchildren Kiran, Jasleen and Arjun.
