James Boyd Lapp, known as Jim to all, passed away on February 14, 2022. His earthly life ended at the age of 53 after a 6 month battle with cancer. Jim was accomplished in the work place, the tennis circuit and as an angler as his son is quick to tell. His personal legacy far outweighs any achievement though. He was a man of great character, anchored in faith and remembered by his loved ones for his trustworthiness, thoughtfulness, respect, gentleness and above all, his devotion. His wife cherishes his humor & loyalty and his children treasure his playful wrestling as well as his tender story times. He was well liked by everyone, demonstrating the care and compassion of Christ daily.
“Let love be genuine. Abhor what is evil; hold fast to what is good. Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honor. Do not be slothful in zeal, be fervent in spirit, serve the Lord. Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer.” Romans 12:9-12 ESV
Jim was born on November 20, 1968 to Sam Lapp and the late Linda Gail Lapp. He was the middle brother of Jeffrey and Douglas and grew up in Irving, TX. His parents demonstrated a deep faith in Jesus Christ which led him to a personal and life-long belief of his own. Jim graduated from MacArthur High School in 1989 and then attended Texas A&M where he graduated with a degree in engineering in 1992.
Jim resided in many different cities through out his career before moving to San Antonio to be closer to family. It was this move that would align Jim’s path with his future wife, Sarah’s. They first met while Sarah was in administration and Jim was a director of supply chain for Petco. It wasn’t until a year later that they would begin their whirlwind romance; engaged and married within the year on December 13, 2014. While in San Antonio, they welcomed their two precious children: Hudson James, born January 9, 2016 and Abigail Louise, born February 27, 2017. Later in 2017, they moved to the Fort Worth area to again be near family.
Loved dearly by so many, Jim is remembered by his wife Sarah and children: Hudson & Abby. He will also be deeply missed by his father Sam, brothers: Jeff & Doug, nieces & nephew: Chloe & Alec Reynolds, Jessica and Jordan and aunt & uncle: Carol & Joe Fowler.
Memorial donations can be made to the Tarrant Area Food Bank, a cause near to Jim and Sarah, in Jim’s honor in lieu for flowers. tafb.org
