

Jessie Marie Waters, of Coppell, Texas, was born, Wednesday, May 14, 1930 in Pondfork, Missouri to William Newton and Millie Harriett (Melton) Welch and died Saturday, March 7, 2015 at her residence at the age of 84 years, 9 months and 21 days. Jessie was one of ten children. During her lifetime she had lived in Wichita, Kansas and Las Vegas, Nevada prior to moving to Coppell, Texas. She had a career as a “modification mechanic” for several aircraft manufacturers including Cessna, Beechcraft and finally retiring from Boeing. The job that she did was made famous during the Second World War by “Rosie the Riveter”. She was a wonderful mother and a terrific grandmother. She had a fierce independent spirit and was no quitter. She enjoyed traveling, reading, playing slots and card tables. She married Jesse Lee Waters on October 17, 1954 and he preceded her in death on December 6, 1995. She is also preceded in death by her parents and eight brothers and sisters. Jessie is survived by her children, Donna Burkes and her husband Larry of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Carl Waters of Mustang, Oklahoma, Denise Cantrell and her husband John of Coppell, Texas, Charles Waters and his wife Paula of Towanda, Kansas; brother, Dick Welch and his wife Doris of Silver Lake, Kansas; 10 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be Saturday, March 14, 2015, at the Rolling Oaks Funeral Home Chapel with burial following in Rolling Oaks Cemetery with members of the family serving as pallbearers.
