

John was born on August 15, 1939 to Wellington and Margaret Marks of Hannibal, Missouri. Jon married Patricia Ann Merritt on August 28, 1965 in Sweetwater, Texas where he was stationed in the Air Force. After graduating from Hannibal High School, Jon started working at Western Printing until he joined the Air Force. After leaving the service, Jon and Patty moved back to his hometown of Hannibal where he returned to work for Western Printing as a pressman.
In 1969, they adopted a daughter, De Ann, and moved back to Texas in 1973. Jon was hired as a 2 color pressman at Taylor Publishing Company in Dallas, Texas, and worked his way up to a 4 color press and then the Komori 8 color Super Perfector. Jon retired from Taylor Publishing after 39 dedicated years; he proudly worked in the printing industry for a total of 55 years.
While growing up in Hannibal, Jon was an avid water skier on the Mississippi River. He always enjoyed working with this hands, collecting coins, stamps, and baseball cards as well as making wood Christmas displays for their yard. Jon and Patty took many cruises with family and friends during their marriage. He was an active member of Rejoice Lutheran Church in Coppell, Texas.
Jon is survived by his spouse of 57 years, Patricia Marks of Coppell, Texas; his daughter, De Ann Marks of Dallas, Texas; his beloved dog Lance and cat Missy; sister-in-law Pamela Crowley (husband Aubrey Crowley) of Sweetwater, Texas; niece Audrey Ricci (husband Scott); nephew Rodger Crowley (wife Tammi) and many great nieces and nephews. Jon was preceded in death by his parents and brother Terry Marks.
The family would like to thank Amity Hospice and Texas Health Presbyterian of Dallas hospital staff and doctors, DFW Home Health, Coppell Fire Department and paramedics. The family is especially grateful to their Rejoice Lutheran Church family and friends.
