

Funeral: Funeral will commence at eleven o'clock Monday, December 28, 2015 at Rolling Oaks Funeral Chapel, 400 Freeport Parkway, Coppell, Texas 75019 with Mr. Jim Michell of Woodland Park Church of Christ, officiating. The family will receive friends from two until four Sunday, December 27, 2015 the Grand Foyer of Rolling Oaks Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow in Rolling Oaks Memorial Park following the service.
In lieu of customary remembrances the family suggest memorials be made in Kevin Bishops' honor to Pancreatic Cancer Action Network 1500 Rose Crans Avenue Ste 200, Manhatten Beach, California 90266 www.pancan.org.
Bearers of Mr. Bishops' casket will be Earl Bishop, Jr, David Earl Bishop, Sr, Kelvin Franklin Bishop, Earl Daniel Bishop, Matthew Thomas Bishop, James Bixley.
Kevin was born to Earl Everette Bishop, Sr. and Norma Jean McNece on April 8, 1960 in St Louis, Mo. As a young child his family moved to Ridgeland, Mississippi and while there he received his education. After high school he entered the US Army for three years and was stationed in Korea as a personal administration specialist. After serving his time in the military, he then went on to further his education at Phillips Junior College of business in Jackson, Mississippi. Of the many jobs he had throughout his life his favorite was at Citibank where he served seven years prior to his illness. When he was not working or spending time with family , Kevin loved to play the drums especially Christian Rock and 1980 classic rock. To list a few accomplishments, he played for the musical “Ain't Misbehaving” on Broadway, and in 1993 he played in “Alive She Cried” in Ridgeland, Mississippi. In 2014 he toured with Raising Abel during the Into The Night Tour.
Kevin was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer on December 19, 2010 and lived 5 years to the date of diagnosis, which is a testament of his strength and was an incredible fighter. His strong faith in God and family is what helped him fight for so long. It is a comfort to the family to know that he is no longer in pain and walking beside his Savior. He was preceded in death by his father on March 21, 2003 and his mother July 9, 2012.
Survived by: Kevin leaves behind a loving wife Lora, 5 daughters Melonee Ervin, Melinda South, Brittany Wilson, Candie Jones and Amanda Jones; grandchildren McKaylyn, Jordan and Trippe; Brothers Earl Everette Bishop, Jr, David Earl Bishop, Sr, twin brother Kelvin Franklin Bishop and a sister Jo Hoover.
