Marlene Ann Patrick

Marlene Ann Patrick, 78, passed away Sunday, Sept. 13, 2015, at a local hospital surrounded by family. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 1000 Tinker Road, Colleyville, with Father Ronald Mohnickey as celebrant. Rosary: 6 p.m. Thursday in the chapel of Rolling Oaks Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends afterwards in the Grand Foyer until 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research, www.michaeljfox.org, or a charity of choice. Marlene was born to Milford and Inez Gough Robinson on Sept. 19, 1936, in Dupo, Ill. She graduated in 1955 from Dupo Community High School, where she enjoyed the drama club and as a result became a lifetime member of the National Thespian Society. After graduating from high school, she married John Kent Patrick on Feb. 23, 1957. In 1970 they moved their family to Springfield, Ill. She spent most of her time taking care of family, volunteering at school and church, and enjoying friends and family. Marlene loved being around people and eventually went to work in retail stores at Bressmer's Department Store, the Vogue, and Stout and Lauer Jewelers in Springfield. In their spare time, Kent and Marlene loved Florida, where they vacationed frequently, and visiting their children across the country. Marlene loved her grandchildren dearly and was present for the birth of them all. In 1998, Marlene moved to Fort Myers, Fla., and resided in Orange Harbor where she enjoyed boating, golfing, playing dominos and the Florida lifestyle. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kent, in 1996. Survivors: Children, Karla Chase and her husband, David, of Southlake, John Patrick of Denmark, Maine, and Bruce Patrick and his wife, Belinda, of Phoenix, Ariz.; grandchildren, Conner Chase, Sam Chase and Emily Chase, Hannah Fillmore-Patrick, Stella Fillmore-Patrick and Jake Patrick; and many nieces, nephews, caregivers and longtime friends.
