Robert “Bob” Emerson was born on September 30, 1934. He passed away peacefully in his sleep in his home at The Conservatory in Keller on January 12, 2026. Bob grew up at 3417 Falls Rd, Hampden, Maryland, the youngest of 4 children. Bob left high school to work as a plumber’s assistant to provide for his family after his father’s early death. He later got his GED and went on to earn a B.S. in Education from Eastern Pilgrim College in 1956, then a Masters in Administration from Glassboro State College. He fully paid for his college education with his earnings as a bass singer in a male gospel quartet. Bob married his college sweetheart Mabel Esther Carroll on 8/25/1956. Bob’s jobs included: 6th and 8th grade teacher; High School guidance counselor; and director of student teaching at Glassboro State College, where he earned the Professor Emeritus award. Bob & Mabel went on to build a large family including three daughters and their spouses, nine grandchildren and their spouses, and seventeen great-grandchildren from ages 8 years down to 6 months, all of whom live locally in the DFW area. One of Bob’s greatest joys was spending time with his family – eating, laughing, and singing. All the children will fondly remember the knee-pounding rides on Pop Pop’s lap with his bellowing rendition of “Won’t You Be My Pony Boy.” Bob had a deep love of music and faith … singing in the choir, joyfully debating scripture, discussing end times, radio announcing at church, and sharing the gospel with anyone willing to listen. His favorite bible verses were Proverbs 3:5-6 and Psalm 23. He also enjoyed football, golf, bowling, days at the beach, and being on the water. The guiding principles throughout his life were faith and family. His influence will continue through his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and the many other lives he touched.
