December 17, 1939 - September 1, 2021
Warren Jones, age 81 died unexpectedly on Wednesday, September 1, 2021 surrounded by loving family.
He was born in Winfield, Alabama to Osie Warren Jones and Virginia Franks Jones. He attended and graduated from the University of North Alabama with degrees in Chemistry and History. It was at University that he met Brenda Hairrell whom he married after a very brief courtship. Work opportunities brought the young family to Texas in 1966, settling in Irving, and eventually Coppell.
He spent his career with NCH for 47 years before retiring. After NCH he continued working as a consultant for Quest Corp of Houston for an additional five years.
Whenever not working he was always volunteering to coach little league football and baseball for Doug. He played taxi for all of Karen's church and dance activities, as well as Suzanne's. He never missed a middle school or high school event whether to watch Doug play or Karen and Suzanne perform as Toy Tigers at Irving High School.
In his free time he enjoyed scenic drives; always taking the long way to get there. He bought and sold more vintage cars than we can count (or find at this point). He was an avid music lover with an extensive LP/CD collection. He was a ferocious reader, sudoku, and crossword ninja!
He loved people and never met a stranger.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Brenda Hairrell Jones. Son, Allan Douglas Jones and spouse Karlene Swaynie. Daughters; Karen Jones, Suzanne Johnson and spouse Mitch Johnson. He was immensely proud of his grandchildren: Logan Flick and spouse Savana, Kaitlyn Flick and spouse Jade, Olivia, Brady, and Chloe Johnson.
He is also survived by his sisters: Martha, Ruby, Nancy, their spouses and numerous nieces and nephews.
Celebration of Life Services will be held on September 25, 2021 from 12 noon until 4pm, under the direction of Rolling Oaks Funeral Home.
