Barbara graduated from Licking Valley High School in 1974. Shortly after graduating she joined the U.S. Army. With nearly eight years of service, she was a stenographer and an EW/SIGINT. In 1979, she married James A Litz and they had two sons, Josh and Tony. In 1983, Barbara began working for the Internal Review and Audit Compliance office in Fort Campbell, Kentucky until 1989 when she graduated from Austin Peay State University with a BBA in accounting. In 1989, she moved to the Fort Hood office where she worked for four more years before going to the U.S. Army Audit Agency for ten more yeas before retiring in 2003.
An inurnment with military honors for Barbara will be held Monday, November 22, 2021 at 1:00 PM at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery, 11463 State Highway 195, Killeen, Texas.
