

Edward Jay Nixon lived a full life of 82 years. He was a world traveler and lived many places, but he made his home in Kempner, Texas with his loving wife, Sandy Nixon. Ed passed from this life peacefully on Sunday, July 17, 2022, from natural causes at his home.
Ed was born December 10, 1939 in Central Lake, Michigan to Margaret (Dillingham) Nixon and Gerald Edward Nixon. Ed graduated from Rockford High in Rockford, Michigan in 1959. After graduation he went on to join the U.S. Navy where he served for thirty years. During his time in the U.S. Navy he married the love of his life Sandy on September 4, 1976. Together they had one daughter Trisha Boardman. Ed would go on to attend Central Arizona College and earn his general construction degree in 1995.
Ed was a loving husband of forty-five years, a father, a grandfather, and a great grandfather. He lived honestly and was involved and respected member of the community. He was the President of the Rotary Club in San Manuel, Arizona. He was a member of the VFW (Texas), The Exchange Club (Texas) and the Elks Club (Arizona 22 years). During his free time he enjoyed; boating, fishing, hunting, camping, golfing, darts, poker and archery.
Papa Ed was a man who woke early, worked hard, and treated himself to the things he loved. He will be missed by many.
Ed is survived by his wife, Sandy Nixon; his daughter Trisha Boardman; his granddaughter Dawn Boardman, his granddaughter Sirena Boardman, his great granddaughter Roxanna Boardman-Reams and his great granddaughter Chloe Reams.
Ed was preceded in death by his father Gerald Edward Nixon and his mother Margaret (Dillingham) Nixon, as well as his siblings Barbara, Alfred, and Robbie.
A celebration of life for Ed will be held Thursday, August 7, 2022 at 5:00 PM, 925 FM 2313, Kempner, Texas.
