Born to Morris and Eleanor Mack in San Antonio, Texas, Sissy traveled all over the world as the daughter of a military father. She spent years overseas, and eventually met the love of her life, George Osborne, at just 16 years of age, while her family was stationed in Germany. They married on June 16, 1956, and celebrated together 62 years of devotion and marriage.
During that time, George's own military service took the couple, and eventually their children, to places including South Dakota, Washington, Ohio, Libya, and North Carolina. Upon retiring, the Osbornes made Copperas Cove their home. Together, they raised three incredible children: Carole Palmer and husband Kenny, Cindy Atkinson, and husband Mike, and Dennis Osborne and wife Diana.
Sissy could often be found snuggled with a blanket and a spy novel, tending to her many plants, watching football on the television, or reading the newspaper. Though she was small in frame, her heart and determination were nothing short of extraordinary. Always kind and soft spoken, others knew to listen when she talked. She was kind but firm, knowing but reserved, witty but caring, bold but delicate and told stories that engaged even the youngest listener.
Sissy was a loving Granny to so many, and held this esteemed title in her heart. Bringing her great joy were her grandchildren: LeeAnn Burdette and husband Chris, Trint Palmer and wife Amber, Lynne Cann, Lauren Garner and husband Brent, Emily Wilson, Lucas Atkinson, Jessica Jacobs and Jonathan Elledge, and Caitlin Rivera and husband Jake. Also carrying on her legacy of love are her great grandchildren: Brandon and Chantz Burdette, Rachel Russell, Lane and Aidyn Palmer, Mariah, Sawyer, and Parker Cann, Allyson Lockhart, Brady Garner, Tess Wilson, Hadley Elledge, and Raegan and Rowan Rivera, and bonus grandchildren Justin and Sarah Wilson, Kade, Kooper, and Kace. She is survived by her sister-in-law, June Osborne, numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews and countless friends.
Preceding her in death were: her parents, her siblings, the love of her life, George, her beloved son, Dennis, her wonderful son-in-law, Kenny, and her precious granddaughter, Emily.
Our mom and granny will be so fondly remembered for her kindness, love, and gentle spirit. She was welcomed into the arms of Jesus, and for that we are so grateful.
Services for Sissy will be December 22 at 11:00 in the Veteran's Cemetery of Killeen. Flowers may be sent to: Crawford Bowers Funeral Home in Copperas Cove. Memorial donations can be made to: Head for the Cure (headforthecure.org), Team Emily, or mailed to: 3238 Gilliam Rd., Kansas City, MO 64109.
'Do not let your adornment be merely outward- arranging the hair, wearing gold, or putting on fine apparel; rather let it be the hidden person of the heart, with the incorruptible beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is very precious in the sight of God.'-1 Peter 3:3-4
