Marilyn proudly served in the Air National Guard for several years before beginning a long and dedicated career with Walmart, where she worked from the 1990s until 2023. Over the years, she held many positions—from stocking shelves to serving as assistant manager—and was known for her strong work ethic and caring spirit toward coworkers and customers alike.
On August 6, 1978, Marilyn ran off to Reno, Nevada, to marry the love of her life, Jim McEvers. Though the odds were against them, their love endured through the years. Together they built a life rooted in commitment, laughter, and family. While Jim served in the Army, Marilyn dedicated herself to caring for their home and raising their three sons—Matthew, Michael, and Donald.
Marilyn was a compassionate yet no-nonsense woman, known for her strength, wit, and unwavering love for those she held dear. She had a deep affection for animals and often advocated for their care and protection. She found joy in sightseeing adventures with Jim and treasured every moment spent with her family.
She is survived by her loving husband of 47 years, Jim; her sons, Matthew (Wendy) McEvers, Michael (Ashley) McEvers, and Donald McEvers; her mother, Rosie; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Marilyn’s legacy of love, resilience, and devotion will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
