Rodney David Casto September 7, 1966- July 16, 2021
Rodney David Casto, 54 years old, courageously fought a hard and long battle with multiple myeloma cancer. After 10 weeks staving off numerous barriers in the hospital, he got to come home to be with his family. He went to be with the Lord [plus his other two daughters lost in 2006 & 2007 and other family] peacefully in his sleep in the comfort of home.
On this side of heaven, he is survived by his wife of 21 years, Amy Casto; his daughters Mallory (19) and Maisie (12) Casto; his mom Theresia Casto; siblings (and their families) Dieter Casto, Richard Casto, Donetta Puckett, and Danielle Hattaway, plus numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, neices and nephews here, in Ohio, Louisiana and Georgia. He is also survived by our furbabies, including his cat, Oliver (the traitor).
Rodney was very vocal, social, upbeat and funny, even in the face of cancer. He never passed up a cheesy or practical joke. He was a faithful, loving family man, an awesome Dad and husband first and foremost. He loved all three of his "girls" despite being outnumbered. He also loved his Mom and family deeply.
Rodney was a dedicated and hard worker, having started as a printer for the KDH where he met Amy. He transitioned to the glass business and faithfully worked in commercial glass until retiring in December 2020. After diagnosis (2016) and his initial stem cell transplant/chemo in 2017, he returned to work even while on weekly chemo treatments. A trooper. Strong. Determined.
He loved camping, being outdoors, and had an insane amount of expertise and smarts with fixing just about anything. Rodney loved to grill and was the king of fire for dinners, campfires or in the fireplace. He loved the Lord and music, often loudly singing along. He is missed terribly, but grateful his road of suffering is over and he now rejoices eternally free from death, pain, and fear.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 24th at 10 a.m. at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home in Copperas Cove, Texas. Services can be viewed through https://www.facebook.com/crawfordbowerscopperascove
