Sam Herron

Funeral services for Ernest “Sam” Herron, 69, of Kempner will be 11 am Saturday, January 3, 2015 in the Grace United Methodist Church in Copperas Cove. Burial will follow in the Copperas Cove City Cemetery. He was born January 6, 1945 in Delano, Tennessee and died December 29, 2014 in Killeen.

He married Cheryl Bishop on June 12, 1965 in Hot Springs, Arkansas. He retired from the Army in 1973 at the rank of SFC.

He was past District Deputy Grand Master Masonic District 49 of the Most Worshipful Grand Lodge of Texas, Past Master Mt. Horeb Masonic Lodge 137;PTIM Mt. Horeb 41, R & S.M. Council; PHP Mt. Horeb 57, R.A.M. Chapter, Member Mount Hiram 595, Member Knights Templar, Burnet Commandry 113, Member Scottish Rite Waco, Member York Rite Llano, Member Grace United Methodist Church, known in community while working at Connell Chevrolet and Shine Bros Goodyear.

Mr. Herron was preceded in death by a son, Todd Wayne Herron; mother, Jimmie Mae Herron and father, Samuel Herron.

Survivors include wife, Cheryl Herron; daughter and son in law, Amy Haire and Thomas; Daughter, Shana Herron; grandsons, Donovan Haire and Edward Lynch; two sisters and one brother, numerous other family member and an abundance of friends.

Visitation will be Friday, January 2, 2015 from 6 to 8 pm at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home in Copperas Cove.
