Virginia Lee Temme

Virginia Lee Temme, age 82 of Copperas Cove, Texas passed away Saturday, March 11, 2023. She was a beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was born June 17, 1940, in Pittsburgh, PA. to the parents of Paul Cokewell and Grace Beilstein, and later raised by Grace and her husband Chuck Beilstein.

Virginia grew up in Pittsburgh where she met the love of her life, Wesson Temme. They would hang out at a local favorite spot known as the Beaver Alley Bowling Alley. They were married on October 16, 1961, which began their life together lasting over fifty years until his passing in 2012. She was a dedicated Army wife following her husband throughout his military career, stationing them in many Army posts throughout the US and Germany.

She was a caring soul, very loving to all she knew, especially her family and close friends. Virginia was also a great cook and worked at the Cactus Restaurant for numerous years as well as the Copperas Cove Country Club.

Mom had many friends over the years, she was the most caring and loving person to her family and friends. She was the type of person to put other’s needs before her very own, out of the kindness of her own heart.

Some of mom’s favorite things to do were sitting on her back porch or swing enjoying her many flowers and watching the hummingbirds. Mom also enjoyed her furry friends, Brownie her dog and Bingo the cat. She enjoyed listening to the music she grew up with such as Elvis Presley, Patsy Cline, Loretta Lynn to name a few. She would play records and sing along in such a heavenly voice.

Her pride and joy was her children, grandchildren and especially her time spent with her great-grandsons.

She was a pillar of strength, a beautiful smile and truly an angel of God!

She is survived by her children, Karen Thunert of Dallas, TX, Celeste Smith & her husband Ed of Bryan, TX, Pam Kirkpatrick & her husband Charles of Montalba, TX, and Steven Temme of Copperas Cove, TX; 8 grandchildren: John, Jason, Eddie, Travis, Ashley, Charles, Brittny, and Brandon; and 4 great-grandchildren: Aidan, Austin, Phoenix, and Bo and soon to be great-granddaughter, Arielle. She is also survived by her sister, Beverly Steiger of Allison Park, PA. Virginia is preceded in death by her brother Thomas Cokewell of Pittsburgh, PA. and her brother-in-law, Tom Steiger of Allison Park, PA.

A ‘Celebration of Life’ will be held Sunday, March 26, 2023, 2:00-4:00 p.m. at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home, Copperas Cove, TX. Gravesite Services to be held Monday, March 27, 2023, 1:00 p.m. at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery, Killeen, TX.
