Wanda married William Arthur Hanson on June 4, 1988 at the VFW Post 8577 in Copperas Cove, Texas. Willie and Wanda were happily married for 29 years until Willie’s passing on June 7, 2017.

She could often be found volunteering at Miss Jewell Elementary as a parent volunteer or working with the PTA while her daughter was a student. Wanda was an active member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary and volunteered many evenings at the VA Hospital in Temple, Texas assisting with resident activities.
After many years of involvement with Copperas Cove ISD as a volunteer, Wanda worked as a substitute teacher for the district for many years before accepting a full-time position with the district as a welcome booth attendant in 2004.
