

Carole Gifford Spencer died September 10, 2012 at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Hosuton. Carole was born February 7, 1945 in Rienzi, MS. to the late Eugene Buton and Johnie Johnson Gifford. She graduated from Thrasher High School in 1963 as Valedictorian, she then attended NEMCC and Ole Miss graduating with a BA in English. She retired from Renasant Bank in 2009 serving as Assistant Vice-President and Loan Officer. She was a member of The First United Methodist Church, serving as past president of the Methodist Women. Carole served on various boards from The Area Arts Council, AMEN Food Pantry, local area Girl Scouts. Was a member of Kiwanis Club and spent 18 years Corinth Band-Aids. She enjoyed writing novels have two that are unpublished “Kate’s Baby” and “Place Called Hope”
Preceded in death by her parents Brother Harold and William Gifford.
Survived by her husband of 46 years Johnny Spencer of Corinth, MS. Daughters Sylbia (Ray) Jacobs of Corinth, MS. Amy (Hal) Vanderford of Carrollton, MS. Kasey (Eric) Atkins of Corinth, MS. Mary Katharine (Brain) Sullivan of Gulfport, MS. brother Eugene (Betty ) Gifford of Thrasher, MS. Grandchildren Allie Rhea Jacobs, Clayton Jacobs, Sam Vanderford, William Vanderford, Anderson Atkins. Host of other family and friends.
Funeral service will be 1:00 Friday at First United Methodist Church with Dr. Prentiss M. Gordon Jr. officiating. Burial in the City Cemetery.
