Danny Ray Smith

Funeral services for Danny Ray Smith are set for 3:00 P.M. on Friday April 11, 2014 at First Pentecostal Church in Counce, TN with Bro. Glen Miller officiating. Burial will be in the Smith Family Cemetery in Michie.

Mr. Smith died on Wednesday, April 9th at the North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. He was born in Corinth on August 6, 1947 to the late J.D. and Eunice Horton Smith. He served in the U.S. Army, worked 16 years on the CNC Railroad and was a member of the I.B.E.W. Danny taught karate for over 30 years and had several schools after earning his black belt in Korea in just 13 months. He loved the open road and riding his Harley Davidson.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Natalie Smith.

Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Bonnie Hathcock Smith; one son, Danny Ray Smith II and wife Lauren of Michie; four daughters, Christie Hood and husband Brad of Saltillo, MS, Tessa Bell and husband Tim of Blue Springs, MS, Prudence Waggoner and husband Steven of Demorrest, GA, and Natasha Lindsey of Michie; four brothers, Jerry Smith and wife Deborah of Guys, Jessie Smith and wife Ashley of Burnsville, Larry Arnold of Nixon, TN, and Steve Arnold of Savannah, TN; three sisters, Gail Garland of Corinth, Sue Smith of Michie, and Rebecca Franks and husband Allen of Savannah; and nine grandchildren, Blue, Raelee, Kaidence, Guliana, Landon, Brady, Josie Mae, Odin, and Raylan.

Visitation will begin on Thursday, April 10th at 5:00 P.M. at the church. Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arangements.
