Leon Died July 22, 2016 at Magnolia Regional Health Center. He was born March 19, 1938 in Tupelo, MS. To the late George and Josie Barnes. He was a member of West Corinth Baptist, serving as a past deacon. He served in the US Navy, and was retired after 34 years from the railroad, starting with GM and O, ICG and finishing up with Norfolk Southern. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening collecting guns, reading and spending time with his family.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brother James E. Barnes Sr.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years Joyce Calvery Barnes; sons Everett “Rusty” Barnes Jr. his wife Carol, Bobby Barnes his wife Dana; daughters Melissa Ann Brown, Judy Winfield McCoy her husband Phil; brother Gary Barnes; sister Sharon Wood; grandchildren Merrie Claire Barnes, Annelise Noel Barnes, Logan Barnes, Daniel Galyean, Jordy Brown and Vanna Brown; 4 great grandchildren and a host of other family and friends.

Honorary Senior Men’s Adult Sunday School class at West Corinth Baptist Church, Retired Railroad Breakfast Group, Bobby Tillman, Jacky Frazier, Robert Palmer, W. A. Cooley, Jerry Caldwell, Bob Montgomery.
Family will gather Saturday from 5:00 to 8:00 at McPeters Inc. Funeral Directors and Sunday one hour prior to service time at the church
