

Rev. Harris K. Counce Jr. , 80, died Thursday, April 14, 2011 at Magnolia Regional Health Care Center. Rev. Counce was a 1950 Graduate of Corinth High School. He graduated from Mississippi College where he received his Bachelors degree in 1956, and attended New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army- National Guard during the Korean War, as a Sergeant and a cook. Rev. Counce dedicated to his ministry for 58 years, served in many locations including S.C. Baptist; Wayside, Scobey, MS; Holly Baptist; Emmanual, Grenada; Iuka Baptist; Colonial Baptist, Memphis; 1st. Baptist, Ripley; Kossuth Baptist; Director of Missions for Prentiss Baptist Association. He started Campground & Minister at Mills Creek & founder of Master’s Mount at J.P. Colman State Park.
Funeral services will be Sunday, April 17, 2011, at 2:00 pm at Kossuth Baptist Church with Rev. Gary Watkins and Rev. Ray Newcomb officiating. Visitation will be Saturday, April 16, 2011 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the church. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Hill Methodist Church Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Mary Ida Miller Counce of Corinth; daughters, Nancy Counce Bailey of Culman, Al., Netia Counce Caviness of Ripley, Ms., Nebra Counce King(Ken) of Memphis, Tn., Nenna Counce Stubbs (Steve) of Ripley, Ms., and Nandra Counce Nabors of Ripley, Ms.; two sons; Jonathan Counce(Lisa) of Muscat, Oman, and Phillip Counce (Amy) of Tupelo, Ms.; one brother, Dicky Counce of New Iberia, LA; one sister, Sue Counce Mullins of Corinth; grandchildren, Eric Bailey, Jamie Cahill, Amy VanHorn, Samantha Bailey, Betsey Caviness Brown, Joseph Caviness, Katie Caviness Hodges, Valerie King Janecek, Miranda King McGhee, Kimberly King, Amanda Stubbs Massengill, Jessica Stubbs Williams, Stephanie Stubbs, Robert Nabors, Ben Nabors, Graham Counce, Adam Hilderbrand, Leland Counce, Luke Counce, and Emma Counce; and twenty five great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Ben Nabors, Robert Nabors, Graham Counce, Adam Hilderbrand, Ken King, Steve Stubbs, Leland Counce, Luke Counce, and Joseph Caviness.
In lieu of flowers, Rev. Counce’s family request that memorials be made to the Kossuth Baptist Church Mission Fund c/o Don Pace 907 Hwy 2 Corinth, Ms 38834
