James G. "J G" Flake

Mr. Flake died Wednesday, August 14, 2013 at Magnolia Regional Health Center. He was born May 3, 1935 in Tippah County, MS to the late William R. Sr. and Wardie Estelle Wilbanks Flake. He retired from the Carrier Corporation after 32 years of service and was a member of the United Steel Workers Union. He enjoyed working with his cattle, hay, deer hunting and fishing and was of the Pentecostal Faith. He married his wife at the age of 16 on February 2, 1952 at the Alcorn County Courthouse.

Along with his parents, Mr. Flake was in death by four brothers, Roy Flake, Bill Flake, Thomas Flake, C.D. Flake and five sisters, Hermie Nails, Sarah Clyde Wilbanks, Mary Ethel Montgomery, Lettie Wilbanks, Jewell Flake.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years Billie Sue Wilbanks Flake, Son: Phillip Flake and wife Juan all of Walnut; one brother, Wayne Flake and wife Sue of Pocahontas, TN; a special neighbor and part of the family, Jerry Ford Russell and wife Irene of Walnut; his care giver of 3 months, Chiquita Mullins of Walnut; 10 nephews and 12 nieces, Roy William ”Buddy” Flake, Terry Flake, Jeff Flake, Johnny Hugh Wilbanks, Myron Flake, Grady Wilbanks, Rev. Ronald Wilbanks, Rev. Jimmy Rich, Jerry Rich, Sammy Flake, Vanessa Brown, Becky Dowdy, Patsy McMillian, Linda Dunn, Darlene Orman, Twlia Bateman, Teresa Wilbanks, Sherri Waldon, Hope Joshlin, Anita Vance, Regina Blanton, Donna McCarter.

Grady Wilbanks, Rev. Ronald Wilbanks, Charles Wilbanks, Steve Wilbanks, Jerry Rich, Robin Wilbanks will serve as pallbearers and Jerry Ford Russell, Kevin Mullins, Ralph Mullins, Joey Stewart, Johnny Hugh Wilbanks will serve as honorary pallbearers.
