

A Celebration of Life for Vard Hutchinson, 77, is set for 1:00 pm Thursday at Memorial Funeral Home with Bro. Jamie Hodoe officiating. Burial will follow with Military Honors at New Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery in Middleton, TN.
Vard died May 13, 2024 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Collierville, TN. He was born November 28, 1946 in Hinkle, MS to the late Herman and Minnie Hutcheson. He was of the Baptist faith. Vard retired as a First SGT from the US Army, having done two tours in Vietnam. Then he became an ROTC instructor for Memphis City Schools. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and spending time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Edith Hutchinson, daughter, Deborah Harrison (Tony); parents; brothers, Junior (Susan), E.W. (Wanda), and James; sisters, Nancy Hopper, Catherine Hopper (Wayne), and Linda Meeks; and brother-in-laws, W.L. Hopper, Joe Hopper, Russell Belk.
He is survived by his daughter, Kim Dixon (Tim); son, Robert Hutchinson; sisters, Dorothy Hopper, Susie Baggett, Martha Bryan (Johnny), Diane Stewart (Johnny), Betty Huggins (Willie Ray), and Ripple Belk; grandchildren, Brittany Brinson (Demetrio), Danny Brinson, Kara Brinson, Austin Colt Dixon (Mandarian), Conner Dixon, Trevor Hutchinson, Sean Hutchinson, Rebekah Hutchinson, Alex Hutchinson; great grandchildren, Cody Brinson, Lilly Brinson, Kayden Weaver, Rylan Dixon, Arya Dixon, Theoden Dixon; and a host of other family and friends.
Pallbearers are Cody Brinson, Colt Dixon, Conner Dixon, Sean Hutchinson, Demetrio Torres, Trevor Hutchinson, William Hutcheson, and Phillip Hutcheson.
