

On March 15, 2025, Carol Emslie, 77, of Cornwall Ontario, peacefully passed away at Cornwall Carefor Hospice, surrounded by her loving son and dear friend, Margaret Slack. Born on November 3, 1947, to Aubrey Nelson Davio and Marjorie Alexena Hethrington, Carol’s life was a testament to the enduring power of love, faith and strong values.
Carol was the beloved wife of Robert (Bob) Scott Emslie and the devoted mother of Robert Thayer of Les Cèdres, QC and Deanna Thayer Thompson of Sault Ste. Marie, ON. She was a dedicated wife & mother known for her compassion, generosity, and unwavering commitment to those in her care. Whether offering a listening ear or a helping hand, Carol had a special way of making everyone feel valued and at ease.
A devout Christian, Carol found solace in attending church services and actively participating in her congregation, spreading the message of God with unwavering faith. Her passions extended to painting, gardening, and caring for her beloved squirrels, birds, and bunnies. Her family and friends will forever cherish the memories of her radiant smile, witty sense of humor, and unconditional kindness.
Throughout her life, Carol embodied grace and resilience. She believed in finding the good in every situation and imparted that wisdom to all who knew her. Her gentle spirit, radiant warmth, and loving heart left a profound impact on everyone she met.
Carol is survived by her brother, children and grandchildren, Morris (Mike) Davio, Deanna Thayer, Robert Thayer, Eric Thompson, Madison Thayer, Beth Thompson, Olivia Thayer, and Elizabeth Thayer. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert (Bob) Scott Emslie, who welcomed her with open arms upon her passing.
She will be missed by her in-laws John (Peggy) of Black Diamond, AB, David (Faye) of Stanstead, QC and Edith (Chris) Devine of Collingwood, ON, as well as many nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
In keeping with her wishes, cremation has taken place.
A celebration of life in honor of Carol will be held at Woodside Cemetery, Stanstead, Quebec, in the spring of 2025. The date will be announced at a later time.
The family extends its heartfelt gratitude to all who have offered support, prayers, and kindness during this difficult time. While Carol will be deeply missed, her legacy of love and compassion lives on in the hearts of all who knew her.
