Loving father of Kaherawaks Thompson. Treasured brother of Mary Lefebvre, Elizabeth Fadden, and Marita Thompson. Daniel is predeceased by his parents John and Elizabeth (née Phillips) Thompson; as well as his sister Nancy Thompson. He will be dearly missed by his many nieces and nephews.
Daniel married Priscilla Worswick in 1980, and doted on daughter, Kaherawaks, from the moment of her birth in 1981. Daniel (“Rokwaho”) was an accomplished multi-disciplinary artist and language keeper. A poet, painter, sculptor, and musician, to name a few of his infinite talents. A technician in computer services
with MCA for twenty years, and also a familiar voice on CKON radio during his tenure as radio announcer / news director from 1986-1991. As a writer and journalist, he was editor and production manager at Akwesasne Notes from 1982-1985. Daniel created a syllabic system for Kanien'kéha, and in recent years,
recognized a need for stories written in Kanien'kéha with English translations - particularly to help those who are learning the language - and devoted much of his time to writing and translating.
In keeping with Daniel’s wishes, cremation has taken place.
Arrangements have been entrusted to LAHAIE AND SULLIVAN WEST BRANCH 20 SEVENTH STREET WEST, CORNWALL, ON.
As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations to the Six Nations Iroquois Cultural Center in Onchiota, NY, would be greatly appreciated by the family.
