

Peacefully at Woodland Villa in Long Sault on January 6, 2014; age 96 years. Len Winchester, beloved husband of the late Dorothy Winchester (nee Taylor). Predeceased by his parents, Frank and Lily (nee Follett), and his sister, Margaret Knight. Loving father of Bill (Linda), Bob (Claire), Steve (Sandy), and Tom (Gwen). Cherished Grandad to Melissa (Vlad), Adam (Erin), Jesse (Alana), Geoffrey, and Grant (Brianne). Great-Grandad to Xavier and Owen. Survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Len Winchester served in the Royal Canadian Air Force as Instrument Mechanic. Later he was employed in local firms as stockbroker. He served his community well as a community volunteer and Past-President of the Cornwall Canadian Legion, the Kiwanis Club, and the Cornwall Business Club. He was a sports enthusiast, a long-time member of the Cornwall Golf and Country Club and played basketball in city leagues. He excelled as an amateur softball pitcher and was inducted in the Cornwall Sports Hall of Fame, Softball category, in 1992. The family will be in attendance at Lahaie and Sullivan, Cornwall Funeral Home, West Branch, 20 Seventh Street West, (613-932-8482), on Friday, February 21, 2014, from 2 P.M. to 4 P.M. and 7 P.M. to 9 P.M. and on Saturday, February 22, 2014, from 9 A.M. until the time of the funeral. Funeral Saturday February 22, 2014 for Mass of Christian Burialin St. Peter’s Church at 11 A.M.
