NELAN-HAAS, Penelope “Penny” Rae, 64 years - It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden and unexpected passing of our beautiful Penny. Surrounded by monumental love in her final moments, she leaves her heartbroken family behind - her beloved husband and best friend of over 50 years, Leo; her loving children Amber (Paul) and Brendan; and her two adoring grandchildren Logan and Aidan. Predeceased by her mother, Mary “Molly” MacDonald (George) and her father, Richard Nelan (Andrea), we know they’ve embraced her with stunned, but open arms.
One thing is for certain - whether you were just stopping by to say hello or partaking in one of her delicious meals, Penny always made you feel right at home. She loved nothing more than taking care of everyone who walked through her door. Neighbours, friends or merely an acquaintance, it didn’t matter who you were, you were part of her family - and she loved her family more than anything. Whether she laughed with you, at you, or at herself, her big beautiful laugh is one that will live on forever in our hearts.
Please join us Saturday, April 27th from 12:00-2:00pm - at Lahaie & Sullivan Cornwall Funeral Home - 20 Seventh Street West, Cornwall, Ontario (613-932-8482) - for a Visitation. Speeches and a Celebration of Life will follow at the funeral home at 2:00pm where we will raise a glass in Penny’s honour, share our Penny stories, and comfort each other through this devastating loss.
Donations in Penny’s name can be made to the Belleville General Hospital Foundation or The Heart and Stroke Foundation and would be greatly appreciated by the family.
