It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Richard “Rick” Philip Bowen, who passed away peacefully on November 1, 2025, at the Cornwall Community Hospital, surrounded by his family. He was 69 years old.
Born on August 30, 1956, in Montreal, Quebec, Rick was predeceased by his parents Elaine Holmes and Hugh Bowen. He was a devoted partner to Susan Inglis Germain, loving father to Ashley (Casey) Babb and Christopher Bowen, and proud grandfather to Avram and Eliana.
He will also be deeply missed by his former wife Diane Bowen as well as many extended family members and friends.
Rick lived a full and generous life. He cared deeply for others and was always ready to lend a hand or share a kind word. He had a great sense of humor and could find the light even in difficult moments. An early riser, Rick loved quiet mornings by the water and could talk for hours about anything and everything. He was a hard worker and a true provider, devoted to his family and creating a loving home.
Rick was an amazing cook who brought people together with his unforgettable meals, especially during the holidays, when he would fill the house with warmth, laughter, and the smell of something delicious. Family dinners were a cherished ritual, always at 5:30 sharp. He believed in making memories, saving for his family vacations each year and making sure they were full of fun and adventure.
He had many passions, including photography, fishing, and motorcycles, and he never hesitated to make new friends along the way.
Visitation will be held Sunday, November 23, 2025, from 2:00 to 4:00p.m, followed by a Celebration of Life from 4:00 to 5:00p.m. at Lahaie & Sullivan Cornwall Funeral Homes, 20 Seventh Street West, Cornwall.
He will be remembered for his loyalty, his stories, and above all, his love for his family. May his memory be a blessing.
As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations to the Canadian Diabetes Association, the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the CHEO Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
