Angela Carol Stollsteimer

On August 20th, 2025, at the age of 94, Angela Carol Stollsteimer of Newport Beach, CA was called to her heavenly home, following a peaceful passing surrounded by family. Angela passed away just 52 days after her beloved husband, John Stollsteimer: a testament to the deep bond and love they shared throughout their 60 years of marriage.

Angela was born in Waterbury, CT on the 3rd floor of her parents’ house on Division Street. It was a difficult birth according to her 19 year old mother, Caroline, complicated by the fact that Angie was born with a cleft lip.

She grew up with her cousins living close by. Because it was a 3 family house, it was both noisy and fun. There were 3 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, a living room and a dining room. The house featured a large yard with a grape vine where they had countless parties. It was fun picking cherries and grapes in the big yard. Her family lived on the 2nd floor, where they had a porch that they used as a back entrance that also opened to the kitchen. It was a large kitchen with a big table that saw many family gatherings over the years. The house was decorated with beautiful wallpapers, as her father and Uncle Louie installed wallpaper as a side business, while they both worked at Chase Brass and Copper. Her father, Joseph, built a small boat in the front room, and they had to remove the French doors to bring it out during the summer. He also used the bathroom as a blackroom to develop pictures.

Angela attended Slocum School, Crosby High, and then Post Junior College, where she was awarded a certificate of completion of the medical secretarial program. After graduation, she worked as a medical secretary at St. Mary’s Hospital. While attending college, she worked at Chase Park House Recreation Center where she taught drawing and crafts, and hosted some musical programs.

In 1954, she married John Ferraro Sr. whom she had known for 4 years as a member of St. Lucy’s Christophers, a Catholic-rooted volunteer and social group. They had two sons, John and Stanley. Unfortunately, she became a widow in 1959.

In 1960, she came to California with her children and parents to visit her brother, Michael, and his family. After returning to Connecticut in February of that year, with the snow taller than her boys, she decided to move out to California along with her parents. They arrived in Newport Beach, California in 1962.

Angie went to work at Ford Aeronautics as a secretary to a purchasing agent. While she worked at Ford, she joined the Sweet Adelines, a singing group, and sold some tickets to an upcoming show to a few of her co-workers. One of her co-workers would invite John Stollsteimer to the concert, and the rest is history.

John and Angela married in March of 1965 and began their life together.

She became involved in her children’s activities and enjoyed being a den mother and band booster at Newport Harbor High School. Her interests included cooking and entertaining, as well as volunteering at the Assistance League of Newport-Mesa Dental Center. She was a communicant and volunteer greeter at Our Lady Queen of Angels.

In her pastime, she enjoyed painting, playing the piano, sailing, tennis, going to the movies, and, later in life, attending Zumba classes with CS Dance Factory at the OASIS center. She and John enjoyed traveling to many different countries, her favorite being Italy. She loved going back to her New England roots in Connecticut, Maine, and Cape Cod.

She is survived by her two sons, John and Stanley Ferraro. Stanley lives in Laguna Beach with his dog and pet snakes. Her son, John married his wife Karen in 1994 and they gave Angela her two beloved grandchildren, Christina and Joseph.
