Arthur Shapiro

SHAPIRO, Arthur – Age 89, of Newport Beach, California, passed away Thursday, October 14, 2010 at home. Dr. Shapiro was a resident of Flint from his birth through his retirement, where he was a respected optometrist and the owner of Union Optical for many decades. Dr. Shapiro was the brother of the late Evelyn Edelberg and Eli Shapiro and a loving and devoted uncle to his niece, Carol (Edelberg) and husband Mervin Goldstein of Newport Coast, California and niece Jill (Edelberg) and her husband Kenneth Levin of Los Angeles; a loving and devoted great-uncle to Ethan (and his wife Marcie), Noah and Erica; and a loving and devoted great-great-uncle to Benjamin, Seth and Manya. He also left behind niece Leslie (Shapiro) and her husband Jonathan Raven of Okemos, Michigan, niece Jan (Shapiro) and her husband Eric Albert of Southbury, Connecticut, and nephew Brad Shapiro and his wife Kathy of Laguna Niguel, California. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 Noon, Sunday, October 17, 2010 at Pacific View Memorial Park and Mortuary, 3500 Pacific View Drive, Corona del Mar, California. Contributions in Arthur Shapiro’s memory may be made to Flint’s Congregation Beth Israel.
