AVIS DE DÉCÈS

David Michael Morehead

5 septembre 1943 – 24 novembre 2025
Avis de décès de David Michael Morehead
AUX SOINS DE

Pacific View Mortuary & Memorial Park

With full hearts for his life, the family of David Michael Morehead announces his peaceful passing on November 24, 2025. A longtime resident of Tustin, California, and formerly of San Diego, Dave lived 82 years filled with love and devotion to his family and friends.

Born on September 5, 1943, Dave’s life was marked early by exceptional athletic talent and determination. After graduating from Hoover High School in 1961, he played seven seasons in Major League Baseball for the Boston Red Sox and the Kansas City Royals, making an unforgettable entrance to the big leagues by pitching a shutout in his 1963 debut with the Red Sox against the Washington Senators. Just two years later, on September 16, 1965, he earned his place in baseball history by throwing a no-hitter against the Cleveland Indians at Fenway Park. Dave was also a proud member of the Red Sox’s legendary 1967 “Impossible Dream” team, which captured the hearts of fans as it battled the St. Louis Cardinals in that year’s World Series.

After retiring from baseball, Dave fulfilled a promise to his parents by earning his undergraduate degree in marketing from San Diego State University. He went on to work as a sporting goods buyer for Lucky Stores before founding Pacific Crest Marketing in 1990, a sporting goods representative company built on his integrity, hard work, and lifelong love of sports.

Dave’s greatest joy, however, came from the people around him. He is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years Patricia Eileen Morehead (Morse); his son Michael David Morehead and daughter-in-law Kelly, and their three sons, Spencer Tate, Rhys Cooper, and Teague Boone; his daughter Crista Lee Martin and son-in-law Chad, and their two children, Claire Elyse and Charles Heath; and his brother Terrence Duane Morehead and sister-in-law Margaret. He was endlessly proud of his family and cherished every moment spent cheering on his grandchildren, traveling with Patricia, and hosting family gatherings filled with warmth, humor, and connection.

A naturally friendly and outgoing person, Dave had an incredible gift for making others feel seen and valued. When at a restaurant, he would leave knowing the waiter’s name and something about them. On every trip, he made a new friend—often more than one. His fun, charismatic, humble, and welcoming presence made people feel instantly at ease, and he approached every interaction with genuine interest and kindness. He embodied hospitality and his home was a place where everyone felt welcome.

An avid sports fan, Dave loved playing golf, fishing, and watching the Red Sox, Angels, Clippers, and Chargers games. He enjoyed traveling, and he organized trips with family and friends, including memorable excursions to Alaska, China, and Russia. He also liked to spend time tinkering in his garden and tending to his orchids—a hobby that brought him quiet joy.

Dave leaves behind a legacy of kindness, enthusiasm, and heartfelt connection. His spirit will live on in the stories shared, the memories cherished, the friendships he forged so easily, and the countless people whose lives he touched simply by being himself.

A celebration of life will be held in Tustin, CA in January for family and friends to commemorate Dave’s life. In the meantime, they hope his memory will be honored through acts of kindness, laughter shared, and time spent with the people who matter most—just as Dave lived every day of his life.

May his memory be a blessing and a comfort to all who knew and loved him.
