

Eleanor Francis Rice was born in Kansas City, Missouri. She and her family moved to Whittier, California in the early 1920s. In 1948 she married Jack Holland. Throughout their marriage they called San Gabriel, Arcadia and Hillsborough home, and eventually settled in Newport Beach for over thirty years. Together they celebrated forty-eight years of marriage until Jack’s untimely death in 1996. They were deeply devoted to each other.
Surviving Eleanor are her five children, Scott (Nancy), Gayle Forster (Al), Roberta, David (Gloria), James (Susan), eleven grandchildren, six great grandchildren, four nieces and nephews, five great-nieces and nephews and two great-great nieces and nephews. She was also survived by her dear sister, Helen Flanders, 101 years young, who passed away on May 30th. Son, Gary, predeceased her.
Anyone who knew Eleanor, knows how generous and loving she was. Most know of her love for travel with Jack, her love of bridge and spending time with her family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to The CERN Foundation http://www.cern-foundation.org/ (grandson, Adam, Brain Cancer) and/or American Diabetes Association (grandson, Jesse, son, David, and granddaughter Caran).
She will be laid to rest next to her husband, Jack, at and under the direction of Pacific View Memorial Park and Mortuary, Corona Del Mar, California.
