Guinivere Hollingsworth, 93, of Glendale, CA, passed away on Friday, December 8, 2023. She was born in South Carolina to the late Norley Franklin Britt and Ora Leigh (Holden) Britt Hylton. In addition to her parents, she was also predeceased in death by her siblings, Norley Franklin Britt, Jr., Elaine Godwin, Dorcas Britt, Edsel Britt, Nadine Caldwell and her adopted sister, Juanita Kepley, and her son, Donald Glen Connor.
Guinivere and her siblings grew up in rural North Carolina during the Great Depression. Their father, Norley Britt, was a minister at a local church. She married at a young age and started a family with her late husband, June Connor. The family relocated to Southern California in the 1950’s.
Guinivere was a woman of many interests and passions, and she was not afraid to pursue them. A gifted musician, she began playing violin at an early age and, at the age of 16, was playing in an orchestra as the lead violinist. She went on to master several other musical instruments including piano, guitar, banjo, French horn and others. For several years she worked as a classical guitar teacher, sharing her gift of music with local children and adults. She was a talented artist as well. As a young adult she drew, by hand, advertisements and signage for local businesses.
Guinivere had a life-long interest in the medical field. Despite not finishing high school, she took college night courses and was able to work as a medical assistant and, later, as a private duty nurse for many years. She was also talented with numbers and administration. She worked as a bank teller, as a school administrator and, later, in her final profession, as a bookkeeper for local businesses.
Guinivere was an avid reader and enjoyed sharing her love of books with others. She was passionate about history, archaeology, astronomy, and the natural sciences.
Guinivere was a kind, loving and eternally positive person. Her smile was infectious, and she charmed everyone she met. She was a lifelong Christian and her faith in God was deep and unwavering. In her final years her door was always open for the grandkids, no matter how tired she felt. She kept her kitchen stocked with treats and was always ready for a game of checkers, a puzzle, a nibble of chocolate or a Hallmark movie. She was the brightest and warmest light and will be missed dearly.
She is survived by three children, Stephen Connor, Linda Lewis and Tony Buschauer; four grandchildren, Cassandra Hooker, Joshua Lewis, and Reese and Jack Buschauer; and four great-grandchildren, Sarah and Nathan Hooker, and Jeremy and Miles Lewis.
A funeral service followed by graveside service for Guinivere will be held Saturday, December 30, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Pacific View Mortuary & Memorial Park, 3500 Pacific View Drive, Corona Del Mar, California 92625.
