Born on December 14, 1932, in Bisbee, Arizona, Harold grew up in the small mining community. He attended Bisbee High School, where he first met the person whom he would later marry, Lilarae Marie Wolfe. After graduating in May 1952, Harold enlisted in the Navy, serving honorably during the Korean War aboard the USS Sutherland as a machinist.
Following his discharge, Harold married Lilarae on April 7, 1956, beginning a loving relationship that spanned over 68 years. While working as an airplane engine mechanic, Harold attended Pepperdine University, where he earned a degree in chemistry. By the time of his graduation, Harold and Lilarae had welcomed three daughters—Vikki, Cindy, and Stephanie. The family later settled in Costa Mesa, where their youngest child, Christian, was born.
Harold built a distinguished career in the adhesives and manufacturing industry, ultimately retiring as a Vice President of Research and Development. He combined his professional accomplishments with a deep commitment to his faith, dedicating countless hours to his church and its youth programs. Harold particularly loved guiding scouting activities and mentoring young men and women.
An avid baseball fan and lifelong Dodgers supporter, Harold was lovingly nicknamed "Grandpa Dodger" by his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His love for aviation led him to obtain a private pilot’s license. He delighted in sharing his passion and skill for woodworking. His grandkids and great-grandchildren have fond memories of working on a sanding project with Grandpa in his garage workshop.
Harold is survived by his beloved wife, Lilarae; his four children, Vikki Lyman, Cindy Webster, Stephanie Thompson, and Christian Webster; his 14 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. He leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, a passion for reading, history, and creativity that will be cherished by all who knew him.
A private graveside service for family will be held for Harold at Miramar National Cemetery in San Diego.
