Dear Joan & Kelly, I believe the Lord brought Jim to my mind today as I realized I had not had contact with him for sometime.  Upon checking his Facebook page. I realize the sad news that Jim passed away last August. My prayers will continue to be with you, and all those touch by Jim’s life.  I knew Jim when attending Marshall University in Huntington, West Virginia.  Jim was a gifted bowler, and a person who could come through if money was on the line. I knew better than to ever bet against him. Jim was instrumental in getting me a job at the student center at Marshall University, where I met my wife, Kathy.    He always took credit for bringing her into my life. We both cared for Jim.  I regret that I never made it out to California to see him and his family, which I know he loved dearly. There is an empty in our hearts, which I know cannot compare to what you’re feeling. Please know our prayers are with you and we are grateful for having known Jim.

So saddened to learn of Jim's  passing.  He was a classmate, a friend , a kind and generous man.  Drive on Jim!

Jim and I first met through our daughters and wives when our daughters were in elementary school together.  We took part in a YMCA father and daughter group together.  Upon seeing him drive up to one of the meetings in his Corvette we soon became friends and discovered that we shared an interest in cars and drag racing.

While I was then a formula car road racer it wasn't long before Jim had reintroduced me to drag racing.  He found me a car from Frank Grossi and introduced me to Gregg Luneack to help with engine work, and I was then on my way in a return to drag racing.

We enjoyed many good times racing together at NHRA Division 7 race events.  Jim loved to enjoy good meals with race friends and tell fun stories amongst all his friends.

Jim, along with his wife Joan and daughter Kelly, were good friends to my family over many years helping us with the care of our son, Hans, who suffers from Muscular Dystrophy.  Jim was a good friend to Hans always offering to help where he could, offering Hans swimming time in his pool, making and eating chili dogs together, celebrating Hans' 21st birthday at an Irish Pub with a first whiskey and visiting him at the hospital during his many stays there.

I will miss Jim and our many fun times together, the interesting discussions we had, his humorous stories, his thoughtful ways and his caring for my family.

I offer my best wishes and condolences to Joan and Kelly, and to Kelly's husband Ryan and their two boys, Dalton and Bodie.  Remember as your grieving gradually heals you, that Jim lived a full and complete life in which each of you were important parts.
