Janis Loraine McCaughey

Jan was born August 14, 1945 in Elizabeth City County, Virginia to Loraine and Charles E. Wills. She lived in Webster Grove, Missouri until the age of 12 when her family moved to Arcadia, California. She attended Arcadia High School and then the University of Southern California where she was a member of the Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority and graduated with her Masters in Education. Jan also met her husband, William (Bill) while studying at USC.

She married William McCaughey on June 28, 1969, in Pasadena, CA. Jan and Bill lived in Foster City and Fountain Valley, California before moving to Anaheim Hills where they raised their two girls.

Jan was a gifted kindergarten teacher for over 30 years where she touched the lives of countless children and their families throughout her career. Jan and Bill loved to travel and were always visiting interesting places all over the globe or planning their next trip throughout their marriage. Jan was a gracious hostess for friends and family and always paid attention to the finest details in her preparations and entertaining. Jan was a woman of Faith. She was involved in many philanthropic organizations in her community. Throughout everything that Jan did, she was always loving, patient, kind and devoted to her husband, children and grandchildren.

Jan is preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, William, her parents, Charles and Loraine, and her identical twin sister, Susan. Jan is survived by her two daughters, two son-in-laws, five grandchildren, and her brother Charles R. Wills and family.

Our family would like to thank the friends and family and caregivers that were a constant, loving presence over the past 11 years to Jan and our family.

A memorial service will be held at Canyon Hills Presbyterian Church in Anaheim Hills on May 13th at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be sent to the Alzheimers Association.
