Although Jason grew up in Southern California he was most at home in San Francisco where he graduated from college. He received a BA in English and found his passion working with Autistic kids for SFUSD. He was a young, tall 6’5”, athletic, cool, calm, and gentle soul that the kids loved and found an ease of connection with.
Jason fell in love with San Francisco, the people, the surfing, and the “chill” lifestyle that fit him so well. He filled his days doing the things that made him happy – the beach, laughing with friends, dancing, reading, painting, camping, bowling, thrifting and skating. Jason packed so much in his short life. Over the last few summers he took the time to travel with friends. In 2013 he explored the US coast to coast by train, in 2014 he backpacked to many countries in Europe, and in 2015 he traveled to South America. Of course, he surfed during these trips. He was able to fill his days with so many experiences that most people could only dream of.
Jason lived the life he wanted to live – yolo.
Jason is survived by his father Michael Zumbo, his mother Maria Zumbo (Garcia), his sisters Rachel Zumbo and Olivia Zumbo, and his step-mom Gina Zumbo. He is also survived by his Grandparents Joyce Zumbo, Jerry and Maria Garcia.
