

John Charles Corrough was born May 8, 1940 in Detroit, MI and died March 13, 2026 in Newport Beach, CA. His parents were Clifford John Corrough and Effie Mae Turner Corrough. In 1948 the family moved to Belleville, IL. Both parents were teachers and Effie Mae was the head of the Music department for the school district. John graduated from Belleville Township High School in 1958. He attended Grinnell College for one year and then in 1959 he transferred to Washington University (St. Louis) to the ir Architecture Program. In 1964 he joined the Peace Corps and was stationed in Bizerte, Tunisia where he practiced architecture for two years. He returned to Washington University in 1966 and enrolled in the Masters in Urban Planning degree. At that time he met his wife of 57 years, Mary Edna Fortner. They were married at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, Newport Beach on September 7, 1968. He worked as an Urban Planner and later specialized in Marina and Waterfront Design. He enjoyed travelling with his family throughout Europe, Asia, and the United States. He leaves behind a wife, Mary Edna, three children John Colin Corrough, Shannon Mary Corrough and Dana Hugh Corrough and a granddaughter, Eleanor Comstock Corrough.
